2) What was an outcome of the Great Compromise in the framing of the Constitution?

1. It provided for 2 year terms for the House of Representatives but made Senate terms 6 years.
2. Also known as the 3/5ths Compromise, this determined how to count slaves in determining the total population of states.
3. It delegated all powers to the states not explicitly granted to the federal government in the Constitution.
4. It outlined the country's plans for expansion.
5. It guaranteed states equal representation in the Senate but based representation on proportional population in the House of Representatives.

The New Jersey Plan advocated for equal representation in the New Congress. This would be of benefit for smaller states. The Virginia Plan proposed giving each state representation in Congress based on the proportion of the state's population to the American population.  The compromise was to create a bicameral legislature with one body, the Senate, composed of equal representation from each state, and the House of Representatives, based on population.
