Why is this passage a logical fallacy? 

"Mr. Lincoln and the Republican party set themselves up as wiser than these men who made this government, which has flourished for seventy years under the principle of popular sovereignty, recognizing the right of each State to do as it pleased."

1. He assumes that Lincoln and his party actually believe what they're peddling.
2. He equates the strength and growth of the U.S. with popular sovereignty while ignoring other factors that could have played a larger role.
3. He says something Lincoln never actually said.
4. He accuses Lincoln of committing treason.
5. He jumps to a conclusion about what will happen if the U.S. frees the slaves.

Answer 2 because he's trying to frame the argument to suit his purpose by finding cause where he wants it while ignoring other factors at play in the development of the U.S.
