Explanation
Amino acids contain carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and nitrogen. Carbohydrates only contain carbon, hydrogen and oxygen.
Some may think phosphorus should be selected; however, it is rare that amino acids contain this element and this is not what is used to chemically differentiate between amino acids and carbohydrates.
