Anry | Posted - 3 April 2019 17:11 X=3, Y=-3, and Z=5-3xy[to the second power] - -Z/3XZ The fraction is written vertically in the equation, so its clear that only the numerator is negative. The answer is -56, but for the life of me I cant figure out how to apply the order of operations to the fraction. |
hdbalzac | Posted - 5 November 2021 6:21 X = 3, Y = -3, Z = 5

f(X,Y,Z) = -3·X·Y^2 - -Z / 3·X·Z

f(X,Y,Z) = -3·X·Y^2 + Z / 3·X·Z

And using parentheses to make it clearer;

f(X,Y,Z) = -3·X·(Y^2) + (Z / 3)·X·Z

Substituting the numbers 3, -3, 5 given for the variables X, Y, and Z respectively;

f(3, -3, 5) = -3·3·[ (-3)^2 ] + (5 / 3)·3·5 =

-27·9 + 5·5 =

-81 + 25 =

-56. |
