I am an accounting major and was looking to take a CLEP exam for the required Microeconomics course, seeing I could not bear to sit through a whole semester of this stuff. I waited a little long to start studying, but a week was all I needed to read through the book. The chapters are relatively short, which is good because I don't think anyone can sit through more than 20 or 30 minutes of economics without getting drowsy. By the way, who am I to talk being an ACCOUNTING major, credits vs debits, assets and liabilites, etc. But I digress. What's even better is that each chapter ends with a short quiz, which reinforces what you just read, along with detailed explainations in the answer section, so you can see why an answer is what it is. Also, as you get closer to test day, you can make use of the short summary at the end of each chapter to refresh your memory. All in all, an interesting and helpful book. Passed the CLEP with room to spare, so not a bad tool for only a week's study.

Had this book for 5 1/2 months before I actually opened it. Now I wouldn't suggest this to anyone but with no economics experience whatsoever I studied this book for 2 days straight. On the third day I took the CLEP Microeconomics Exam and scored a 55 / 80. The ACE pass score is a 50. I earned credit for my class with essentially 16 real hours of studying. The book is well written. You may have to re-read some of the more complex chapters or search on the internet for terms that aren't defined but if you can pass the final exam in the book you will pass the CLEP.

I'm trying to pass the CLEP exam. I ordered this book but it seems too complicated for the basic stuff I need to know for the exam. If you are pretty decent at basic algebra and want to learn microeconomics thoroughly, this looks like a good choice. I took off one star because I don't think this book is very usable by the average person who didn't graduate college. There are much simpler resources out there, such as free videos, for someone who just wants to learn the basic concepts. This book could have been called "Microeconomics Summarized".

I think this is a great book for someone that wants a shortened version of a college textbook. If you suck/hate math and just want an easy, super simple introduction, you probably should look elsewhere.

Great basic book to help know the terms of economics. I used this as a supplemental reading for a health care economics class that I was really struggling in. If you have the chance I recommend reading the entire book before the class starts if your using this as supplemental reading to aid in school coursework. If you just want to know how economics works, this is a great beginning book.

Took an online Microeconomics class which basically meant I wasn't really paying attention to the online lectures hehe...
The dangers of an online class really.
Bought this book and it did exactly what it advertised!
Was very easy to understand and had great examples.
It was simple and not overly explained which is great

I took AP Microeconomics my sophomore year in high school and, sad to say, I did not pass my AP exam. However, when I found out about CLEP, I took another shot at it. This book does explain everything well, but I think that personally for me the material just never really clicked. I did pass, but also with the aid of the YouTube channel, mjmfoodie. If you need extra help in explanation, she has a whole playlist of videos (for both Micro- and Macroeconomics) which are rather amusing. They are very helpful, and therefore I think that's partially why I passed the test in the first place.

This is a well written book. My old college major so I can read it traveling around on buses and be quite interested. But why I wanted to review this old stuff if beyond me. Amazon just does it's excellent thing delivering it to me.

I really like the book, and the contents. but the book I received was missing chapters one and two...I can't exactly learn basic micro-economics without the first two complete chapters.

I studied economy in the '60s and was looking for a book giving an up-to-date explanation of microeconomic models. If this book is anything to go by, the science of microeconomy has made no progress in 40 years. The mathematics is at high school level, at best, and completely misleading, at times. Supply and demand curves are not straight lines, and to represent them as such is completely unrealistic. So are many of the examples used. Would it not have been better to use examples from existing companies? I cannot recommend this book as a textbook on microeconomics.
