In terms of content, these are totally fine and good. They give you the word, pronunciation, definition, example and synonyms. Neat.But the quality of the cards really leaves something to be desired. They are printed on thin paper which is easily damaged, unlike most flashcard which are actually like... cards. Mine were also sloppily cut, so the cards have rough edges and stick together horribly, as well as leaving tiny paper residue everytime I touch them. I have to study over a hard surface or there will be tiny paper scraps embedded in the furniture. The box mine arrived in was also somewhat damaged, with crushed corners and a bent lid. The cards are also a lot smaller than I expected, with the print being a fairly small font to match, so that might be relevant if you have trouble with small print.

I am a re-entering adult student and it has been almost a decade since I have attempted University-level coursework. These flashcards contain words that I didn't even know existed. Not only do these words prepare you for the GRE, but they also expand your vocabulary in ways that you'll never imagine. There are so many eloquent words that I can now use in my school work or to express myself in daily conversations.

It amazes me how the misuse of the english language has become normative in our society. I was one of the worst etymological offenders I knew, but now my loquacious malediction has been abated thanks to these cards!

I never though I would need this much help with my vocabulary but as soon as I took a practice GRE and did worse on the Vocabulary section than the math section, These cards are great on their own but where this takes the cake is the App that you are able to download as a result of this purchase. All the same cards but on an app on my phone so when I have some free time I can go over them. This is a great product for those of us who need help on the GRE but a word of caution, if you really do need these cards as a help, prepare yourself now. You need to be prepared to feel dumb as you start to look at these cards as many of the words are antiquated and no longer in use but for some reason we are tested on in a standardized format. This is a must have in prep tools for the GRE.

I think this is a great resource for prepping for the GRE. I would recommend to get these vocabulary cards about 2 to 3 months prior to your test. It's just good to start studying a few cards a day until you truly understand the meaning of the words. I do wish the Flashcards would have come with extra blank cards that you can write your own words that may be in the GRE book but not in the vocabulary cards.

Even though there weren't as many words to review with this flashcard set as there were on the apps I downloaded on my phone, I felt like it really helped me to have review materials that were separated from technology. This flash card set has a brief definition for each word, an example sentence, phonetic pronunciation and related words (synonyms). It certainly isn't comprehensive and while it isn't the only tool that I would use to prepare for the GRE vocabulary I was very satisfied with it and felt that it was a great aid to me. I will reccomend it to friends who are prepping for this test.

We purchased both the Kaplan & the Princeton Review GRE sets. The Kaplan seems to have a better explanatory value, but the size and fragility of the set is abominable. The box is poorly designed and is tightly filled with alphabetically aligned sequences that defy keeping in order. The Kaplan cards are no bigger than standard business cards but much thinner, fragile and very hard to handle overall. Perhaps equally problematic is that the size of the font (the lettering) is so small that even with good eyes you will find it difficult to easily read in any systematic working manner. I would liken it to a ribbon notation size message in a Chinese fortune cookie. Kaplan truly cut corners with the material side of their product, and if you do have vision problems or problems with your hand dexterity this is more than an inconvenience. It is a design flaw.

The Princeton Review product corrects all of these deficiencies but does not precisely handle the definitions or augmenting expository details as well as Kaplan. Kaplan for Example: Front of card: "Abate" verb (uh bayt). [Back of card]: to reduce in amount, degree, or severity. (example) As the hurricane's force abated, the winds dropped and the sea became calm. Synonyms: ebb; lapse; let up; moderate; relent; slacken; subside; wane.
THE PRINCETON REVIEW: (front of card) abate verb (back of card) "to lesson in intensity or degree" (example sentence) Although she filed her tax returns late, Mary hoped the IRS would abate the penalties. Synonyms: decrease, subside, lesson.-----
Judge for yourself on comprehension between the two. My wife is Philippine and looking to advance her Nursing career towards a PhD. She speaks great English, but clearly needs help for the GRE testing level with English as essentially her second language. My evaluation is being presented with her needs in mind. In our overall opinion, the Kaplan version would be corrected utilizing the Princeton material format, and the larger Princeton material box and set up would be equally improved with more of the Kaplan touch for competency in the translation.
